We do our best to make GoViral easy and pleasant to work with. Even though no sites are the same, a lot of the time questions raised by one might be important to others as well. That is why we have collected the questions and put together this FAQ. Please also take a look at our guidelines
Just e-mail us at
if you have a question and we will respond as quickly as possible and post it on the site for the benefit of others.
How do I get your videos on to my site?
We have several formats and ways to implement our videos, and our team will be more than happy to assist in finding the right solution for your site. We work with thousands of sites and we have always been able to find a way.
On a general level you can embed the video with our player (suitable for blogs and other smaller sites) or if your site has its own player, we can integrate a java-script on the html page or embed a "piece of code" action script in your player.
Yes. This can work well i.e. for geo-targeting specific countries during campaigns.
However we treat all our campaigns as content and want them to be suggested to the user instead of interrupting them, so adserving should not happen as pre-rolls or similar ad formats. MPU's can be used to promote the campaign on your site.
Our tags can be served via all popular adservers. If you come across any adserver problems, let us know.
To what extent can I control videos presented on my site?
There are two main options for publishers:
Does it work on Blogger, WordPress and other blog formats?
Our player is embeddable across almost all platforms, simply copy/paste the embed code and it should work. Should a problem occur, simply send us and e-mail or give us a call and we will find a solution.
All our campaigns have country specific targets and therefore we are able to pay you for traffic from all the target territories. Working with GoViral is also a way of monetizing foreign traffic. Our tracking systems automatically sort the views in to target and non-target and pay you for the targeted ones.
Can I run campaigns that are outside my target area?
You are always welcome to display our campaigns.
But if a campaign is targeted at Germany and your site reaches a predominantly UK audience, it's unlikely to attract many paid views.
However, if you i.e. have a very large UK site that happens to have a sizable German audience, too, then it may still be worth your time.
Alternatively, if you are able to geo-target, you could consider geo-targeting a German campaign to just your German users.
Can you alert me when there's a new campaign?
We use country and contextual topic to sort the sites in our database, offering you only the most relevant campaigns for your audience.
Should you want to be informed every time we launch a campaign, just let us know and we will provide you with the information. This might also be suitable if you have a viral/entertainment/off-topic section on your site that can help us with distribution of entertaining video material in general.
Can I sign up more than one site at a time?
Yes. If you want to register more sites to our network at once, simply leave all the URL's in the comment field when applying.
The sign up process doesn't work?
Should there for some strange and mysterious reason be something wrong with the sign up system please don't hesitate to contact us using any of the contact details on the front page.
When am I entitled to a payment?
You get paid by standard fee pr. post or usually for the amount of views the video receives in the campaign period.
When you're being paid for views, you get paid for views that occur in the target countries of the campaign. We do however launch campaigns in more than 30 countries, so working with GoViral is on a general level an excellent way to start monetizing foreign traffic.
I've had 12,000 views, but only earned the equivalent of 9,500 views?
As mentioned in the guidelines, we only pay out in the targeted countries. A UK targeted campaign only pays out on UK views, so you won't earn anything for views that occur outside the UK.
It is also possible that you have a different measurement system than us (have a look at the reporting section of the FAQ if you want to know more about that topic).
Invoice:
Bigger publishers can use standard invoices to receive payments from GoViral. We can pay each quarter, monthly or on campaign basis if your traffic is significant.
Paypal:
We send you a PayPal payment within 30 days of when your account balance reaches £50. If your account balance is less than £50 after a campaign, we will just pay you out after the next campaign.
We are currently working on a billing system that will automate the entire process and automatically transfer money to you on a monthly basis.
Can I change the size of the video player?
Yes. We currently offer the following sizes:
We can also implement the video on your site in a variety of other ways. Integrate it in to your player, post videos as video walls (3-12 videos that we power) or set up a complete viral channel where we blend in commercial and non-commercial content.
Can I set a video to autoplay?
No, not in general. But if you feel it is absolutely necessary, please contact us and we may enable the feature specifically for you if it still serves a good user experience.
Can the player be customized or skinned?
No, sorry, but we are currently working on a skin-system, simply because it will allow the player to look more cool and fit better on partner sites.
How often are the stats updated?
Once a day, but we are working on a version 2.0 that will include better tracking and more frequent reporting.
For video campaigns, a view means an actual view of the video (not an impression of the video player on the site).
We count a view after the user has started watching the video, usually about 7 seconds in to the video . The user does not have to finish watching the video for the view to be counted.
Why is the a difference between my view count and yours?
The big issue here is to determine what is being counted.
We count at 7 seconds in to the video . We sort out views where the same user clicks a lot of times after each other, we sort out errors, crawlers and other robots - that also influence the numbers.
This happens because the client at all times should be sure that they get the product they have paid for. As the buffer between you and the client, our goal is to keep trust in the system at the highest possible level at all times. By optimizing the tracking technology and report as accurately as possible to both parties, we do just that.
Discrepancies arise because the publisher and the party serving the content are tracking different events. Publishers' counts are generally higher than counts by us because publishers are tracking a different and most of the times earlier event. We do care about tracking all views, but we do also care about only tracking real users engaging with the content.
Having said that, we do monitor and improve our system on a daily basis, please do report if you find something unusual and we will take a look at it. It might just help us.
No, there is no term commitment. The purpose of the test is to try to identify the best way to work together on campaigns. Should you during the test or later on feel unhappy with the service, simply remove the material and notify us. We will obviously like to discuss other alternatives to improve our service to you, but we will always pay you for all views delivered and you can leave at any time.
